This is our latest draft of the letter to administrators

Dear

Through support from the National Science Foundation, the Sugar Lake Conference was held in Minnesota in the summer of 2002. The purpose of the conference was to engage nationwide representatives from K-12, community colleges, universities, business and industry, and professional societies in a discussion of how to improve access to, interest in, and quality of engineering education. The ultimate goal of this group is to establish a National Engineering Education Collaboration.

The group of Alabama educators that attended the Sugar Lake Conference is trying to organize the Engineering Education Partnership of Alabama (EEPA). Our mission is to form a " sustainable collaboration" between Community Colleges, K-12, universities and practicing engineers to increase students' awareness of the engineering profession and improve access to engineering education through increased efforts in recruitment, retention and articulation.

Alabama has the opportunity through this engineering education initiative to become a collaborative model for the Southeast. We believe that your support and participation in this initiative is critical to its success. Our committee will soon have specific goals, objectives and strategies to share with you. We would appreciate a letter from you indicating your support of our efforts. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you would like to learn more or if you are interested in joining our efforts.

sincerely,
