Phy 201 & 213                Experiment 4  Gravity             Fall 2007

Part I.  Falling bodies

Deliverable:

1.  Determine the relationship between distance (y) an object falls and the time (t) it takes the object to fall that distance .

Part II.  Build your own Reflex-o-Meter

Deliverable:

1.  Using the formula obtained in part I  to build your own reflex tester.

Recommendation:  Before using the yellow strip supplied, make one out of paper first and get instructor to ok it, then make one using the yellow strip.

Since we know how the distance an object falls is related to how long it takes, we can mark distances on a piece of paper corresponding to time of fall.  Using a strip of card stock, calculate and mark off distances corresponding times .01, .02, .04, .06, .08, .1, .12, .14, .16, .18, and .20 seconds.
