What, are you trying to tell me that unless we give mining permits away free with no environmental strings attached, nobody will be interested in the minerals found on public lands ? I'm sorry, a civil response doesn't come to mind. The best I can do is, either you are really stupid, or you think the majority of we Americans are.

Mining Law #1. The price of mining leases and royalties shall be market driven. Failure to comply with federal environmental guidelines will result in immediate expulsion from the land, and fines large enough to repair the damage created. (At the moment I'm too ignorant to spell out these environmental guidelines explicitly, but they will be included in this law.) The profits from these mining operations will be taxed just like any other business in America.
